How to choose the right size ring?
Choosing the right ring size is important to ensure that your ring fits comfortably and is comfortable to wear every day. The ring should be tight enough to stay in place, yet loose enough to be easily removed from the finger. Finger size can vary depending on time of day, temperature and other factors, so it's best to measure carefully.
Measuring finger size from the finger
There are various measuring tools for measuring the size of your ring and finger, but you can also measure them at home. Here are three ways to measure the size of your finger, with a special recommendation to use a ring gauge for best accuracy.
1. Using a ring gauge
When measuring the diameter of your finger, it is a good idea to measure it with a gauge that corresponds to the width of your ring. You can use a string or a paper-cut gauge or order a free gauge from our online shop. ring gauge. Remember, however, that the ring must go over the joint. One practical way to measure the thickness of a finger with a traditional gauge is to measure the finger at the thickest point.
This is how you use a ring gauge:
- Slip one end of the ring gauge into the joint of the other end and pull.
- Place the ring gauge on your finger and tighten it until it is tight but comfortable.
- Adjust the ring gauge so that you can just barely get it over the joints off your finger. Remember that the ring should go over the joint.
- Once you have the ring size to fit, read the ring size on the ring size scale. The sizing scale is in the US dimensions.
- See the corresponding size chart on our website.
2. Measuring the thickest part of the finger (diameter)
3. Use a string or paper to measure (circumference)
You can also measure the circumference of your finger using a piece of string or a strip of paper. Gently wrap the string or paper around the thickest part of your finger (usually at the joint) and mark the point where the string or paper meets itself. Use a ruler to measure the marked section in millimetres. This measurement corresponds to the circumference of your ring. Please note that this method may be slightly less accurate, so it is worth repeating the measurement a few times.
Tips for measuring
- Measure your finger several times at different times of the day. Fingers can swell during the day, so measuring both morning and evening will give a more accurate result.
- Avoid measuring with cold hands. The cold can shrink the fingers, leading to undersizing.
- Note the width of the ring. Wider rings may require a larger size for comfort.
