The ring has a hinge mechanism, so it is easy to open and snap onto the ear. These earrings are also comfortable to sleep in as there is no spike to put pressure on the head.

The gold plating lasts really well on steel. It does wear out over time though. The wear is largely influenced by the use of the jewellery and the PH of the skin.
